I am a senior in high school who loves environmental science.
In 2021, I started ClimateLitNow in hopes of increasing climate literacy, taking inspiration from my own experiences in school by creating youth-centric resources, lessons, and media. This project stemmed from my own time going through the education system. In elementary school, I had the opportunity to learn about environmental science in my general science classes. Only in high school did I learn that very few students had exposure to such a curriculum, despite the significance and worldwide impact of climate change.
Because of this, I felt compelled to create resources and opportunities to combat this eu At ClimateLitNow, our mission is to empower underprivileged, under-resourced, and underrepresented communities with accessible and actionable climate science education through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). We strive to bridge the knowledge gap, foster environmental stewardship, and inspire collective action by providing the tools and resources necessary for a sustainable future. Through inclusive education, we aim to cultivate informed, resilient communities capable of confronting the challenges of climate change.
I have also been hosting a podcast, Climate Activate, targeted towards high school students to expose students like me to the diverse climate-oriented workforce and interview researchers, executives, and non-profit organizers about their stories, inspirations, and advice for students like me.
Since 2023, ClimateLitNow has partnered with ECCLPs and Climate Reality Orange County, two influential climate literacy and advocacy organizations.
I hope to expand my outreach to provide our children’s book and curriculum to distribute digital and physical copies to elementary schools nationwide.
While the issue of climate change is daunting, education and exposure is the first step towards inspiring impactful change through climate literacy.
Together, we can empower the next generation, one lesson at a time.
